The ‘Windows‘ drop down menu is under redesign, putting many options under sub-menus so a number of new Windows 10-specific shortcuts could be added. Note many of the options were moved to the ‘Diagnostics‘ sub-menu. As Windows 10 Settings App becomes more useful, several of the d7x drop down menus have been updated to link to both the classic/Windows 7 based version and the Windows 10 based version where available. Several other items in the...
Added support for the ‘Brave‘ web browser when deleting temp internet files, history, and cookies. Added a new d7x function to update the system default web browser. Search for “update” or “browser” under all d7x functions. Currently works with Edge, Chrome, Opera, and Brave only. This may need some tweaking, so please let me know if you observe any issues with this feature.
So earlier this morning I saw a post from someone looking for a way to lock their Windows 10 Start Menu from changes, because after updates and for other reasons the menu layout would occasionally get altered one way or another. So I said to myself hey, there’s a powershell command to backup the Start Menu to an XML file, and a group policy to apply and lock that XML based layout into place. So...
This release fixes an issue detecting the current state of the “Set Search Option” for the search bar/icon on the Windows 10 taskbar, located in d7x on the Tweaks > Start Menu/Taskbar tab, and in Tweaky on the Interface/Explorer > Taskbar tab. Previously the default setting was not being detected properly if the setting had never been changed before. Under these conditions, this would have the effect of not applying your chosen setting (when applying...
The main fix to all three apps involves a hopefully rare underlying problem with the code used to work with Windows’ CreateProcess API, which has a bug of it’s own that our code wasn’t compensating for. d7x: Under some rare conditions this may cause a failure to launch 3rd party applications. dSupportSuite: The problem was a little more complicated, and under some conditions this could cause a custom app that had a bad download link...
Fixed tweak “Disable Delay Before Loading Startup Apps” which was applying to the HKLM registry hive, not the (correct) HKCU hive. Chanced tweak “Remove Delay in System Menus” which previously set a delay of 0 milliseconds for the HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop\MenuShowDelay registry value, now it is “Reduce Delay in System Menus” and sets a delay of 50ms because of a complaint in the menus showing up ‘too fast’ (note the default is a 400ms delay). Fixed...
Fixed an issue with d7x updates failing when d7x.exe is running from the root of any partition, e.g. the root of a flash drive. Obviously the update failure will still occur when updating to this version, but should not occur in the future.
Fixed: d7x should now extract the correct product key from Windows 8.x/10 when it is embedded in the UEFI. Change: When the key is not embedded in the UEFI on Windows 10, d7x will no longer display an incorrect product key, instead leaving the field blank. v21.4.2.1 – Fixed: d7x should now detect the correct product key on Windows 8.x and with the Enterprise editions of various Windows versions.
dSupportSuite, our White-Label Automated Maintenance app / Business Card with a Purpose (both the stand-alone and d7x bundled versions) as well as dSupportSuite Mgmt Console have been updated to include two new exciting features which are designed to make it easier to recover user files in the event of a ransomware infection: ShadowGuard has been incorporated. ShadowGuard prevents malicious software/ransomware from deleting your volume shadow copies, and can be configured to guard against VSSAdmin commands,...
Added new “Battery Report” to reports options (using powercfg /batteryreport) which saves the html report file in your d7x reports directory. Added an “Info Report (Minimal)” which does not gather any mail settings at all, any wireless passwords/network info, or any product keys. This can be found on the Audit/Diagnose/Testing tab in the left column, and can also be added to session start via Config > Custom Apps > Assign App/Function to Section. Added ability...
