If you don’t know PC Repair Tracker, then you should. I’m not going to get into why I’m starting to fall in love with this software, all the features, etc. because it is irrelevant. This post is for people who already know and use it (that and d7 🙂 A short time ago I had the pleasure of speaking with Luke, a PC tech and shop owner, who also develops PCRT. You see, I have […]
FREE for personal AND commercial usage, ReAct is a quick n’ dirty utility I wrote because I’m constantly forgetting command and reg hacks to work with Windows Product Activation. Also, it’s perhaps the ugliest utility I’ve produced to date! See pic for features (and ugliness): [wpdm_package id=45]
I can’t be the only one… Windows 8 Pro, fully updated. Chrome Version 28.0.1500.72 m One day Chrome just decides to start opening in Metro on my main rig. Here is the sequence of events: Power outage, bad UPS, you get the picture – Chrome v27 was running at the time, in desktop mode of course. Power came back on, Windows 8 loads – says it is installing Windows updates. Get back into Windows and […]
I’ve had this annoying issue on (only one of) my Windows 8 machines, and that is the hot corners on the left side were not working. Is that what you call them, ‘hot corners’?? Anyway… I couldn’t get the open apps list from the top left, and I couldn’t even get the ‘start button’ in the bottom left corner (although I could at least put the cursor down there and still get to the start […]
A self-hosted option for operating your own cloud environment, dCloud Self-Hosted (dCSH) is now available for users of dSupportSuite! Utilizing your own cloud reduces security risks and increases speed of cloud operations within dSupportSuite, as the information is on YOUR server and not mine (which shares bandwidth and processor power with other users of dSupportSuite and d7.) The only requirement for dCloud Self-Hosted is an internet exposed FTP server capable of FTP Passive mode. This […]
CopyToFlash is a ZERO-CLICK utility I wrote for my own need of copying content to several hundred flash drives for distribution. Basically it starts a drive monitor to detect when a flash drive is plugged into the system, and when that happens it copies the content to the flash drive, then waits on removal and insertion of a new flash drive before copying the content again to the new drive – all accomplished with ZERO […]
The update check routine is bugged in v1.3.7 of dSupportSuite Mgmt Console. The issue is fixed but to update you will need to REINSTALL. Here’s the process: Uninstall dSSMC via the start menu shortcut or control panel. Download / Install dSSMC. https://www.d7xtech.com/?wpdmdl=41& On the SETUP page of dSSMC, everything should be pre-populated as settings are preserved, you just need to click the Download Working Copy button to grab the latest dSupportSuite to work with. Do NOT reinstall dSSMC via the […]
This video explains what they are, when they are processed, the theory behind the whitelists and blacklists, and how to build good whitelists with fresh installs of Windows. Also explained is the Definition Merge process, why it is important, and how dCloud users can reap the benefit of the Definition Merge. Enabling d7’s Debug Mode features are useful for techs to help me troubleshoot issues with d7 when submitting bug reports. This video explains several ways to enable different debug functionality in d7, and how to easily submit the generated debug reports to me for examination. Both Fab’s AutoBackup 3 and Fab’s AutoBackup 4 Tech have been updated with the ability to backup and restore very large paths files over 255 characters without any other third party tool! This is something that DataGrab does not have native support for, FYI. Existing users can grab the new version from your orders history. If you do not know how to do that, click here to read the download and update procedure. Don’t have Fab’s […]
