If you missed the show today (08/10/2016) or just want to review it again, we’ve got them edited and posted to our YouTube channel! On this episode we spend almost the entire time showing off the new (and yet to be released) FolderWatch HoneyPot Detection feature of the upcoming CryptoPrevent v8. We load up a virtual machine with some documents and pictures, then turn on only this new feature for protection. It completely blocked TeslaCrypt...
Some users in the UK have reported the error message “Error Number 2146697211 Resource not found” when running d7II, as our cloud server on d7ii.com is not accessible. It appears, but is unconfirmed, that British Telecom is blocking our cloud server on that domain. Servers on other domains appear unaffected. Changing your DNS servers to Google DNS’s has resolved the problem in these cases. The DNS servers are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Here is a link with...
Yesterday we announced unexpected server downtime and maintenance for a download server used by some of our applications, most notably our technician tools such as d7 and d7II. These issues came earlier in the week when our hosted server suddenly went offline for more than an hour in the night; although it appeared to recover we had a new IP that prompted some DNS changes, but all was still not well. We then discovered that a configuration from last year...
We’re currently undertaking some maintenance on our servers that host downloads and updates for some of our products. If you have noticed any issues since yesterday or through today, please have patience we are currently working out the problem and trying to improve performance at the same time. This should not effect any web content or downloads directly from our website. We’ll make another post once the issues have been fully resolved.
fGet.exe is a tiny download utility designed for batch/scripting usage, which simply downloads the data from the specified url to a local file. fGet optionally supports referring URL spoofing and HTTP login with basic authentication. fGet.exe is tiny (currently 51.1kb, or 18.5kb zipped with standard compression) and requires no external dependencies for best portability. Obviously it can be used in many scenarios, however it was specifically designed to give d7/d7II users an alternate means of downloading multiple...
Recently a user of one of our free tools wrote in to compliment us again on QuickHash, and had a request for the ever-increasingly used SHA512 hash algorithm being used to confirm downloads now from many major vendors. Looking through my code it was an easy implementation so I slid that in there, and released v1.1 today! Also looking through the code, I see tons that can change/improve, tons! Please remember that QuickHash was written...
Recent changes in JRT (an example custom app configuration distributed with d7II and the original d7 Premium) prompted a small but necessary fix in the 3rd Party Configs\JRT_Auto.cmd file which we use to manipulate the JRT.exe download/extraction and toi modify JRT’s GET.BAT file. This update will fix automation issues with JRT that since one of their recent updates seems to have broken a clean exit of their GET.BAT which stalls in cmd.exe using the old last line...
NW.js, previously known as Node-WebKit, is a combination of WebKit and Node.js. Node.js allows JavaScript to access the underlying operating system in much the same way as traditional languages, like C. Unlike traditional WebKit browser implementations that prevent web applications from accessing the underlying OS, NW.js has no such limitations. NW.js is able to run on OS X, Windows, and Linux, making it comparable to other multi-OS frameworks, like .NET and Java. Normally, having a framework requirement...
