First you will need an Amazon account. Once you have one or if you already do, login and head over to https://console.aws.amazon.com/ to get started. Find and click on EC2 under Amazon Web Services to access the EC2 dashboard. Next follow the visual steps below:
In the following step you will create and download a “key pair” in the form of YOURFILENAME.PEM — hang on to this file, it is used later to retrieve your Windows logon password.
Next we move back to the Instances section. NOTE you may need to wait up to 30 minutes before you can proceed…
In the next step you will use the YOURFILENAME.PEM you created and downloaded earlier. NOTE if you receive an error message after browsing for the file that states it must begin with “—–BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY—–“ then you will need to open the file in Notepad, copy all of the text, and paste it into the box below the Browse button.
Next, you will move on to Windows Server Setup.
